Kid Rock Rockin' Someone Else's Tune?

kid rock and maurice foremanTMZ has learned a man named Maurice Foreman, straight from the hills of Kentucky, claims it's no coincidence that his song "Slow Death" is similar to Kid Rock's hit "So Hott" -- and he's suit filin' mad!

Foreman sought Steppin' Out's Chaunce Hayden's help in finding legal representation, claiming that he has the copyright to his song written in 1997. Foreman claims that Rock sings "so hot" three times, just like he sang "slow death," and says that the lead guitar notes are identical.

Unfortunately, Maurice tells Hayden, he's "a poor guy who works in a factory so I don't have a lot of money," which has made it hard for him to find a lawyer, but if he does have a case, thar's money in them thar hills!

TMZ called Rock's reps for comment, but haven't yet heard back.

Does he have a case? Listen to both tunes and vote!

31. oh, kid rock fans saying its not even close. What a shocker. Its like trying to tell a room full of 10 year old girls that their favorite band doesn't sing live. Sometimes when I hear these songs when they go to court I have to really stretch my imagination to hear a similarity. Wasn't difficult at all to hear a similarity this time.

33. This one is really tough for me...I guess I would have to say there isnt that much similarity. Plus I have never even heard of Maurice Foreman so he should be happy if Kid Rock listens to his music...if Kid Rock even does. If this idiot gets any money for this I am going to be pissed lol.

34. you people obviously do not have a formal music background. you aren't just listening for words & chorus, you have to listen to the guitar as well. they've taken this guy's song, changed the words & chord to make it sound like their own. everything matches. listen again nimrods.

36. Everybody take a breath! The music industry has been full of similar sounding bands, songs, guitar riffs and so on and so on. These two songs don't even sound alike, maybe the guitar in the background, but that's a one or two chords, alot music can be similar if you just listen closely. How would Kid even had heard this guy. Never!! It's a joke. He wants money, he's broke. End of story.

39. OK .The only thing that is similar is the chord progression its probably G,D,C or something basic like that ,thats the only similarity .i mean that chord progression is used in a billion songs

40. I agree both songs sound like Alice Cooper "18".

I was listening to Satalite Radio this weekend and I heard a Kid Rock song, and it sounded just like "Warewolves in London" exact same mucis, just different words.

I wondered how his he getting away with borrowing the mucis from another song !

41. Well this is crazy! I've been a musician and writer all my life and this is NOT a rip off! That chord progression is so typical and worn out that anybody in the business has used it a million times! The lead lines are meaningless, there are only so many lead lines that fit any given chord progression, there is nothing unique about either of them!

42. As a musician, it's bound to happen.. . You write a killer song, then a few months later, you hear some rock band playing the same song... It's not stealing, it's just similarities in the creative minds of the musicians.... If were to sue bands for writing the same song, I'd be a millionaire.

43. I agree with This Little Piggy, Alice Cooper came to mind. This is a bit of a stretch...Stealin' has to be as obvious as "Ice, Ice, Baby" and "Pressure"...now that's somebody rockin' someone else's tune!
