Kid Rock Rockin' Someone Else's Tune?

kid rock and maurice foremanTMZ has learned a man named Maurice Foreman, straight from the hills of Kentucky, claims it's no coincidence that his song "Slow Death" is similar to Kid Rock's hit "So Hott" -- and he's suit filin' mad!

Foreman sought Steppin' Out's Chaunce Hayden's help in finding legal representation, claiming that he has the copyright to his song written in 1997. Foreman claims that Rock sings "so hot" three times, just like he sang "slow death," and says that the lead guitar notes are identical.

Unfortunately, Maurice tells Hayden, he's "a poor guy who works in a factory so I don't have a lot of money," which has made it hard for him to find a lawyer, but if he does have a case, thar's money in them thar hills!

TMZ called Rock's reps for comment, but haven't yet heard back.

Does he have a case? Listen to both tunes and vote!

16. The vocals maybe different but the way they are sung sounds exactly the same! Also of note is the fact that the guitar riff is identical, sure Kid's sounds backed up by session musicians and studio magic, and so appears to sound more intense but it is the same as Foreman's guitar only he recorded it ten years ago in his garage! In other words, GET READY TO COUGH UP BIG TIME KID!!!!

19. So true on the comment of Alice Cooper's Eighteen!
Every song seems to have someone else's riff now.
Sorry, I do not think he has a case.
And Kid Rock...really after Pam Anderson...no one takes you serious with any talent.

20. Kid Rock has a half black son that he is rearly photographed with and all people can talk about is him and pam or Kidd Rock and his music....His son is in Highschool and lives with him so why dont we ever see him? He should be proud of his son he looked like him but darker.

21. its not the words...its the riff. I'd say they pretty dam close to each other. I'm not saying KR stole it, but they are to similar to dismiss as a simple coincidence. And for you guys saying " they aren't even close"... you have no idea what to listen for.

22. lmao @ kids record shot to number one the first week.
So did britney's terrible piece of work. Wonder how that happens and number one where?.
Do their record company's buy thousands of the records to boost up the rate the first week it's out? would cost them nothing to do that.
The songs are both terrible and not so brillant that two or fifty two people could have came up with the same thing.

23. both guitar parts are clearly rip off's of Tom Petty's "Refugee". the lyrics and singing of both tunes suck, so it's easy to think they sound the same, but I don't think this guy has a case...

24. Wow, This Little Piggy, it DOES sound like Alice Cooper's 18. Maybe Alice can sue that Slow Death guy. I think they do sound similar but there are a lot of songs that sound a lot alike.

I doubt Kid stole it. It isn't that great of a song that it would be worth it.

25. I totally thought about that Alice Cooper song too. Nice to see I wasn't alone. Good call Piggy and Gypsy. I also detect stylistic similarities to that "Rock You Like a Hurricane" song by The Scorpions. But yeah, sounds like a million songs I may have heard actually. It's virtually impossible to write a rock/pop song these days without ripping off something else either subconsciously or accidentally. Frivolous.

Meaning, 63% of the people that voted are dumb as a doorknob. You took "Sound Alike?" to literal,
